Amy Vanderzyde
REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER, M.Ed, MSW
Amy brings more than 10 years of experience to her work as a therapist, taking a holistic, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to supporting individuals, couples, and families. She believes that creativity and meaningful connection are powerful tools for helping clients identify their strengths and create positive, lasting change in their lives.
Amy specializes in working with children, adolescents, new parents, and couples who are navigating emotional, behavioural, and relationship challenges. She is particularly passionate about supporting families through periods of transition and growth, whether those challenges involve personal well-being, parenting, or family dynamics. Amy also has specialized training in supporting individuals and families through all aspects of the perinatal journey including pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and perinatal mental health concerns.
Amy integrates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches into her practice including Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). As a holistic practitioner she views mindfulness as a foundational component of healing and incorporates mindfulness-based strategies such as visual reflection and meditation to help clients build self-awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being.
